Two things she said really struck me: 1. "Hurt people...hurt people." - In other words the type of people who hurt others are the type of people who are hurting on the inside. 2. During a visit to the doctors office, the physician introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm Dave. I identify as a male. I prefer to be referred as a he or him. What about you?" - If you have a pt who is transgender and you don't know how to refer to them, this is a perfect way to ask! |
