Wagma, a UPAP graduate who spoke at our Cultural Pearl Corner for Muslim Patients, has a very important message to share; see below:Hi everyoneIn the wake of several tragic deaths of innocent lives, we are asking for your support in such difficult times. America lost its most beloved and sincere citizens last week- Razan, Deah, and Yusor. They were university students at UNC who had dedicated their lives to helping the under-served and in- need here in the United States and abroad. Their lives were cut short and their dreams shattered. They had the same dreams as we all do- to finish school, work in a field we love, get married, have a family, give back to the community, and to be with loved ones. Their absence have left many hearts shattered. In the past 2 weeks, not only did we lose Razan, Deah, Yusor but we also lost Mustafa Mattan and Abdisamad Sheikh-Hussein due to discrimination and misunderstanding. Please stand in solidarity with the families and communities affected by these tragedies. These tragedies affect the fiber of the American dream of living with equality among neighbors, and without fear of violence and backlash. United in Service for Humanity is holding a vigil on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the south steps of the State Capital to be followed by a silent march through Downtown, SLC. Your presence will be invaluable.
